How can I correct the error using Parent Paths
Posted by Tim Botherway on 24 May 2017 10:14 AM

Enable Parent Paths is disabled by default since IIS 6.0

A parent path refers to accessing directories below your current working directory in a manner such as INCLUDE File = ../somefile.asp

You may receive one of the following error messages in your browser:

  • If the Show Friendly Http Error Messages is not selected in your web browser:

Server.MapPath()error 'ASP 0175 : 80004005' Disallowed Path Characters

-or-

ASP error 0131 The include file <%filename.ext%> cannot contain '..'
to indicate the parent directory. /<%path%>/<%filename.ext%>, line <%number%>

  • If the Show Friendly Http Error Messages is selected:

HTTP 500-Internal server error

To resolve this issue, please follow these instructions:
