How Do I Manage my Database?
Posted by Tim Botherway on 01 August 2018 08:07 PM

1. When you log in to your account, go to ‘Webhosting Plesk’ and click into the panel for the hosted domain

2. At the bottom of the next page, in the panel ‘Web Hosting Settings’ click on the ‘Manage’ drop-down and select ‘Manage Databases

3. This will take you to Plesk’s database manager, where you can go do the following:

User Management – Lets you configure your SQL credentials.
phpMyAdmin – The browser interface for your database for you to make changes.
Import/Export Dump – For restoring an old database or saving your current database
Copy – Creates an identical copy of your database. Useful for making backups before significant changes are made.

How do I fix ‘Error establishing Database connection’
This is 90% of the time a SQL user issue. Go to ‘User Management’ and reset your database credentials then update your website’s code with the new credentials.  Depending on your website, the code will be in different places.  For example in a Wordpress website this will be in the wp-config.php file, and for HTML site it may be in the web.config file.

Can I download a copy of my website to my computer?
Yes go to ‘Export Dump’, and it will save it to your file manager. Go to your file manager and download the file to your computer.

How many Databases can I create?
You can make multiple databases, but this will severely affect performance, and it is restrictive on your total disk space allowance.
