How do I get an SSL for my .au domain?
Posted by Aliesha Ellington on 18 August 2017 04:04 PM

Because of the way that the .au registry handles WHOIS queries, there may be an extra step you need to take to ensure your SSL cerificate can be verifed for your .au domain.

As part of the verification process for SSL, a validation link will be sent to the email address listed on the WHOIS record for the domain, in order to prove you are who you say you are. However, the WHOIS information for .au domains does not list the email details. Therefore the verification process will automatically email the 5 default email addresses listed below:

  • admin@
  • administrator@
  • hostmaster@
  • postmaster@
  • webmaster@

You will need to make sure that at least one of these addresses is set up for your domain, and that you have access to the mailbox.
