Common port numbers to use for Firewall / NAT rules
Posted by Somnath Kadam on 18 February 2013 10:20 AM

Overview:

By default, your cloud server is locked to allowed only internal traffic and no access from the outside world. You will need to allow access by creating a new NAT rule to open up ports.

Common port numbers and descriptions:

Port NumberUsage
21 FTP
22 SSH/SCP
23 Telnet
25 SMTP
80 HTTP
443 HTTP over SSL
3389 Remote Desktop Protocol (Windows)
3390 Remote Desktop Protocol (Windows)

Note: If you want to make any of these ports available to public (eg: Creating an http server and showing content on port 80), you can use the IP range 0.0.0.0/0 when creating a NAT rule.
